چکیده

17 18 Objective: Pediatric bipolar disorder (PBD) has attracted increasing attentions due to its high 19 prevalence and great influence on social functions of children and adolescents. However, the 20 pathophysiology underlying PBD remains unclear. In the present study, the resting-state 21 functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was used to detect abnormalities of baseline brain 22 functions in depressed PBD youth. 23 Methods: Seventeen youth with PBD-depression aged 10-18 years old and 18 age-and 24 sex-matched normal controls were recruited in this study. The fMRI data under resting state were 25 obtained on a Siemens 3.0 Tesla scanner and were analyzed using the regional homogeneity 26 (ReHo) method. Correlations between the ReHo values of each survived area and the severity of 27 depression symptoms in patients were further analyzed. 28 Results: As compared with the control group, PBD-depression patients showed decreased ReHo 29 in the medial frontal gyrus, bilateral middle frontal gyrus and middle temporal gyrus, and the right 30 putamen. Significant negative correlations of the mood and feelings questionnaire scores with 31 mean ReHo values in the medial frontal gyrus and the right middle frontal gyrus in 32 PBD-depression patients were observed. 33 Conclusion: Our results suggest that extensive regions with altered baseline brain activities are 34 existed in PBD-depression and these brain regions mainly locate in the fronto-limbic circuit and 35 associated striatal structures. Moreover, the present findings also add to our understanding that 36 there could be unique neuropathophysiological mechanisms underlying PBD-depression. 37 38 3 39

Brain Activity Map Extraction from Multiple Sclerosis Patients Using Resting-State fMRI Data Based on Amplitude of Low Frequency Fluctuations and Regional Homogeneity Analysis

Introduction: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common non-traumatic neurological diseases of young adults. MS often reported during ages 20-62. MS affects the various anatomical parts of the central nervous system. Up to 65% of multiple sclerosis patients MS patients suffer from various problems, such as fatigue, depression, pain and sleep disorders. Unlike MRI, that only sh...

Altered Regional Homogeneity in Pediatric Bipolar Disorder during Manic State: A Resting-State fMRI Study

UNLABELLED Pediatric bipolar disorder (PBD) is a severely debilitating illness, which is characterized by episodes of mania and depression separated by periods of remission. Previous fMRI studies investigating PBD were mainly task-related. However, little is known about the abnormalities in PBD, especially during resting state. Resting state brain activity measured by fMRI might help to explore...

Brain Activity Map Extraction of Neuromyelitis Optica Patients Using Resting-State fMRI Data Based on Amplitude of Low Frequency Fluctuations and Regional Homogeneity Analysis

Introduction: Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) is a rare inflammatory disease of the central nervous system which generally affecting the spinal cord and optic nerve. Damage to the optic nerve can result in the patient's dim vision or even blindness, while the spinal cord damage may lead to sensory and motor paralysis and the weakness of the lower limbs in the patient. Magnetic Reson...

Regional Homogeneity within the Default Mode Network in Bipolar Depression: A Resting-State Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study

AIM We sought to use a regional homogeneity (ReHo) approach as an index in resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate the features of spontaneous brain activity within the default mode network (DMN) in patients suffering from bipolar depression (BD). METHODS Twenty-six patients with BD and 26 gender-, age-, and education-matched healthy subjects participated in ...
